The shade is rattan woven by hand into a bell: it swells out below the canopy, reaches its widest point around a third of the way down and draws back in toward the rim, so the profile is closer to an onion than to a cone. The weave is open and regular, fine vertical strands crossed by rings at even intervals, and it is worked tight enough to hold that curve without an internal frame. The rattan keeps its own tone, a natural honey that darkens slightly where the strands cross and where the weave doubles at the rim, so the surface is never one flat color. Does the weave throw a pattern on the ceiling?
