A solid shade gives you two pools of light, one up and one down, and a dark middle. A woven one gives you a lit object. Is the weave natural cane?

The strands are synthetic, a rattan look rather than the real thing, woven over a metal frame. That is exactly why the shade can stay outside through a wet season without going soft.

Where does the light escape?

Everywhere. Through the gaps between the strands, out of the open top and down through the open foot, so the shade glows as a whole object and the ground under it picks up a warm circle.

Which height suits a seating group?

The 18.9 inch beside a low sofa, the 26.8 inch between two chairs, the 35.4 inch where the lamp has to read from across a terrace. All three share the same footprint of about 9.8 inches.

Wired or solar here?

Solar for a terrace with no supply, since the whole point of a freestanding lamp is being able to move it. Wired where the position is settled and the output has to be the same every evening.

How stable is the stand?

The frame is a thin metal stand with a flat foot, and the mass sits low. On decking it is steady; on soft ground or an exposed roof terrace, set it against a planter or a parapet rather than in the open.

Can it stay out in the rain?

Yes, it is rated IP65 against dust and water jets from any direction. Do not immerse it. Let the weave dry after heavy rain rather than covering it while it is still wet.

The Woven Cone Sits Inside the Frame Rather Than Standing On a Solid Base

Look at where the shade meets the floor and there is nothing there. The cone is held inside a thin open stand, lifted clear, with the metal reading as four lines rather than as a plinth. Two things follow. The light gets out under the shade instead of being trapped against the decking, so the circle on the ground is wider and softer than a base mounted lamp gives. And by day the lamp keeps the view across a terrace open, because there is no solid block at floor level, only a woven cone apparently floating an inch or two up. On a small balcony that difference is the reason it does not feel crowded.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
