Seven Feet of Continuous Stone Is the One Thing Nothing Else Here Does

Most large alabaster fittings get their size by repeating a part. Twenty globes, thirty cubes, a ring of panels. Repetition is how you cover distance in a material that does not like being cut long and thin. This one refuses that. It is a single ribbon that runs the whole span and turns back on itself, so from any angle you are reading one line rather than a series of objects. Over a long table that gives you something a cluster cannot: a continuous band of light with no gaps in it, and an outline that changes completely as you walk the length of the room rather than repeating itself.

How wide is it really?

70.5 inches on the smaller version and 88.2 on the larger, which is close to six and seven and a half feet. Both are also about 31 inches deep, so the piece needs clearance on two axes and not only along the table.

Which length for an eight seat table?

The 88.2 inch. A general rule is about two thirds of the table length, which puts a ten or eleven foot table on the larger version. Below eight feet of table the smaller one is the right call.

Is the ribbon one piece?

It reads as one continuous length of stone running through every loop, with no joint showing along it. That is what the price reflects, because a run of alabaster this long is difficult to cut and difficult to move.

Can it be dimmed?

As built it holds one level. A dimmable version can be made on request, which is worth asking about on a piece of this size and cost.

How much light does it give?

The published figure is 20W for 2 200 lm, which is low for a fitting this large and we are not willing to repeat it as fact.

How is it delivered?

As freight rather than as a parcel. A piece of stone over six feet long travels crated and needs two people and a planned route into the room.

The Frame Above It Is Doing Far More Work Than It First Appears to Be Doing

Look up and there is a thin rectangular frame with a few brass cables dropping from it. That frame is why the ribbon can hang the way it does. A single ceiling point could not hold a seven foot piece of stone level, so the load is spread across several cables from a frame that is itself fixed at more than one place in the ceiling. It is worth knowing before you plan the installation, because it means the fixing is not a matter of one box and one hook. It also means the frame has to be set square to the room, since it is visible from directly underneath.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
