A flat bar can be built two ways. Put the diffuser on the face and the fitting becomes a bright strip pointed at whoever is standing at the basin, which is comfortable for nobody and unkind at eye level. Put it along the lower edge, as here, and the light leaves downward and forward: onto the top of the mirror, down the glass, and onto the face in front of it. The squared black or white section above stays dark and reads as a line rather than as a lamp. Will it fit a standard US junction box?

It needs a different mounting arrangement, and it is worth knowing that before the packaging is open. Take the installation guide to an electrician first, especially in a bathroom where the box position is fixed under tile.

Why choose white over black?

White disappears against a pale wall and against a mirror cabinet, which is what you want when the bathroom is already busy with tile joints and cabinet lines. Black draws a deliberate line above the glass and suits a gray or stone wall. The light output is the same either way.

Does the diffuser glare?

Less than a face on diffuser would. It runs along the lower edge of the bar, so the light leaves downward and forward onto the mirror and the person at the basin, and the bright strip is not in your eye line when you look straight ahead at the glass.

Can I dim it?

Only on the TRIAC warm dimming build, which is a separate order option, and only with a TRIAC dimmer, also sold as a leading edge dimmer. The standard build takes an ordinary external wall switch and cannot be dimmed.

Which length for a mirror cabinet?

Match the cabinet rather than the room. The 23.6 inch bar suits a single door cabinet, and the 31.5 inch one a wide two door cabinet or a long mirror. The 15.7 inch bar is for a small mirror in a cloakroom, where anything longer would overrun the glass.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Above the mirror on a dry wall, yes. The rating is IP20, which is no protection against water, so keep it clear of the shower and of direct spray.

Settle the Mounting Before the Tiling, Because This One Does Not Take a Box

Most vanity bars in this price range screw onto a standard junction box and the job is over in twenty minutes. This one does not. None of that is a problem in a new bathroom, where the fixing can be planned. It is a real problem in a finished one, where the box is already set under tile.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
