From the drive this reads as a square white block on a pier, which is what a column light should be. Walk up to it and something different happens. There is no hard edge anywhere on the body: every corner is radiused, the lower faces curve inward toward the base, and the top is a soft flat plane rather than a lid. That is why it looks made rather than manufactured. Polyethylene is what allows it, because the material is molded rather than folded from sheet, and a molded shell can carry curves in two directions at once that no bent metal box will ever manage. What is the shade made of?

Polyethylene, the material outdoor furniture is molded from. It glows evenly across its whole surface, it does not yellow the way thin acrylic can, and it takes a knock on a stone cap without cracking.

Why round the edges of a cube?

So it reads soft at close range and square from a distance. A hard edged white box on a pier looks like a piece of equipment; the same volume with every edge pulled in looks like an object that was made.

What does the fluted base do?

It lifts the shade clear of the surface, so light reaches the cap rather than being trapped under the body, and its dark ribs give the white shade something to sit on visually.

How is it switched?

There is a touch switch on the body, which is the one you use when it is in reach, and it also works with a remote dimmer. On a high pier the remote is the practical choice.

Does it need a cable?

Nothing is wired to it and nothing needs to be run through the pier, which is why it suits a masonry cap. Set it down, fix the base if the spot is exposed, and leave it.

Can it be left out in the rain?

Yes. IP65 covers dust and water jets from any direction, so rain and sprinklers are fine. Do not immerse it. Wipe the top panel when it looks dusty, since a dirty cell charges slowly.

The base is doing three things at once. It lifts the shade a couple of inches clear of the cap, so light gets out under the body and washes the stone it stands on instead of being trapped against it. It gathers inward like a stem, which visually separates the white volume from the masonry rather than letting the two collide. And because it is dark and finely ribbed, it disappears at night while the shade above it glows, so what you see from the gate is a floating block of warm light. Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
