Offsetting the Joints Between the Two Bands Is a Small Decision With Big Effect

Stack two rings of panels with their joints in line and you get a grid, and a grid on a curved surface reads as tiling. Set the upper joints between the lower ones and the eye stops finding the vertical lines, so the drum reads as one surface with a horizontal break through the middle of it. Lit, the effect is stronger, because each joint shows as a thin bright line where light escapes between the panels. Offset, those lines never run the full height of the drum and the cylinder keeps its shape instead of breaking into columns.

Why are there two bands of panels?

Because a single band tall enough to make a drum would need panels too long to cut reliably in this stone. Two shorter bands solve that, and offsetting the joints between them keeps the surface from reading as a grid.

Are the bulbs supplied?

Yes, eight G9 bulbs come with the fitting on both diameters. They are replaceable and G9 is a common base, so a failed bulb is a short job rather than a reason to take the whole drum down.

Which color temperature should I pick?

3000K in a bedroom or a living room, where warm suits the stone. 4000K over a work surface. 6000K only if the room is cool and white already, because cold light takes most of the warmth out of alabaster.

How far does it hang?

The cable is supplied at 47 inches and can be shortened, up to a maximum of 4.9 ft. Over a table you would usually take it down to around 30 to 36 inches above the surface, which your electrician can do on site.

Is 4 000 lumens enough?

For a bedroom or a dining table, yes. In a large living room it is a main light that still wants lamps around it. The drum sends most of its output down and sideways, with little reaching the ceiling.

Will the panels match?

Close, but not identical, and on a drum that shows. Every panel is cut from natural alabaster, so some show strong veining and others almost none. Lit, that variation is what separates the drum from a molded shade.

A Drum Sends Its Light Down and Sideways, and Barely Any of It Upward at All

That is the practical difference between this and a ring or an open cluster. The top of the drum is closed, so nothing reaches the ceiling and the light you get is the light on the table, the bed or the floor below. In a bedroom that is usually right, because a bright ceiling at night is the thing that stops a room feeling restful. In a large living room it means the corners stay dark unless you have lamps, so plan the second source before you decide this is the only fitting the room needs.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
