Bead Drops Between the Tiers Keep the Middle of the Chandelier From Reading Empty

The weakness of a two tier candle chandelier is the gap. The arms draw two rings of light and the space between them sits dark, which is exactly where the eye goes when you look up from a dining chair. Hanging wooden bead drops in that space solves it: the drops catch the light from both tiers, they give the center something to read, and they add a vertical line to a shape that is otherwise all horizontals. How much room does it need?

28.3 inches across and 33.3 inches tall, so it wants a dining table for six to eight and a ceiling of nine feet or better. Under eight feet the height is the constraint rather than the width, because the drops hang well below the arms.

Why are the arms on two levels?

It gives the chandelier depth when you look up at it. Six or eight arms on a single ring read as a flat wheel; splitting them across two heights puts light at two depths and lets the bead drops sit in the space between the tiers.

Is a bulb included?

Eight E14 candle sockets at 15W each, with the lamps left to you. Warm frosted candle lamps keep the attention on the white column and the drops; clear filament lamps add sparkle but also more glare at eye level under a low ceiling.

What exactly are the drops?

Turned wooden beads hung from the frame on short links, some single and some in short strands. They are wood rather than glass or crystal, so they read matte and warm and they do not throw the refracted light a crystal drop would.

Can it be dimmed?

The fitting runs from a push switch with no dimmer of its own. Eight dimmable E14 candle lamps on a compatible wall dimmer will dim it smoothly, and that is the setting most people use in a dining room in the evening.

Is the white finish uniform?

The column is sanded, lathed, polished and engraved before it is finished, so the old white sits over a worked surface rather than a flat one. Expect small differences in how the wear reads from one piece to the next.

Most people size a chandelier by width and then discover the problem is height. This one is 28.3 inches across but 33.3 inches from the canopy to the lowest drop, which is nearly three feet of fitting before you add any chain at all. Under a nine or ten foot ceiling that reads as generous and the two tiers separate properly. Under eight feet the chain has to be minimal and the piece will sit close over the table, which works if the table is long and people are seated, and less well in an entry where anyone might walk under it.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?
