A Tall Sconce That Reads Well From Below on a Stair Wall
Most sconces are wider than they are tall, which is the wrong shape for a stair wall, where you look up at the fitting from the flight below. This one runs the other way: a turned walnut column 50 cm tall, brass rings and a brass wall plate, and a glass shade facing up at the top so the light goes to the ceiling rather than into your eyes on the way down. Eight shade models are offered on the same column, in white or amber glass, some plain and some cut. A 50 cm pull chain hangs at the fitting, and the sconce also answers a common wall switch. It is hardwired and takes an E26 or E27 lamp, not included.
