A Turned Wood Disk With a Frosted Globe in It
A disk of solid wood, hand turned from a single block with its edges softened into a low cushion, mounted flat against the wall with a frosted glass globe set into its face and stepping forward from it. The glass diffuses the lamp behind it into an even sphere, so there is no hotspot, no visible filament and nothing bright pointed at anyone on the stairs below. The disk is 25 cm across, the globe 18 cm, and the whole fitting projects 14 cm. Hardwired, E26 lamp not included.
