The Diffuser Sits Back Inside the Rim, Which Is Why It Works Over a Pillow

A wall light above a bed fails in a specific way: you lie down, and the lit face of the fitting is right in your eyeline. This one is built to avoid that. The white diffuser is recessed inside the wood drum by most of its 5.5 cm depth, so the rim shades it from below and from the side. From standing height you see a lit disc. From the pillow you see a warm ring and a soft wash on the wall around it, with the source itself out of view. Mount a pair either side of a headboard at about shoulder height when seated and you get reading level light on the page without lighting the room or the person beside you. The pull chain on the fitting means neither of you has to get up.

Why is it good above a bed?

Because the diffuser is recessed about as deep as the rim. Lying down you see a warm ring and the wall around it rather than a bright face, so a pair either side of a headboard reads as a soft glow instead of two spots in your eyeline.

What does warm dimming change?

On the standard build the light stays at 3000K whatever the level. On the Triac warm dimming build the color drops with the level, so turning it down takes the light toward candle tones the way a filament lamp does. It needs a compatible Triac wall dimmer, which is not included.

How is it different from the rounded version?

The rim. This one is straight sided, which keeps a flat outer edge, a crisp shadow line and a deeper recess for the diffuser. The rounded model curves back toward the wall and reads softer. Same 20 cm diameter and the same 5.5 cm depth.

Can I mix the two finishes on one wall?

Yes, and a walnut beside a light wood works well above a desk or a bed. The shape is identical, so only the tone changes and the pair reads as one idea rather than two fittings.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

We rate it IP20, indoor and dry locations. Beside a mirror in a well ventilated room is fine. Keep it out of a shower zone and away from splashing.

Warm Dimming, Which Drops the Color With the Level Instead of Just the Output

Most dimmable LEDs get quieter without getting warmer, so at ten percent you have a dim light that is still the same daylight-leaning color, and rooms lit that way feel cold late at night. The Triac warm dimming build handles it the way a filament lamp does: as you turn it down the color falls with the level, toward the amber end, so a low setting reads as candlelight rather than as a weak ceiling lamp. That matters most in the place this fitting is meant for, beside a bed at the end of the day. It needs a compatible Triac wall dimmer, which is not included, and it is a build-to-order option rather than a switch on the fitting, so choose it at the order. The standard build stays at a fixed warm 3000K.

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.
