A fixed bar commits you to one geometry at the moment you drill. This one does not. Folded in, it sits close to the wall and washes a flat print or a mirror. Opened out to its full 30.7 cm, it clears a deep frame or a loaded shelf and drops the beam in front of the edge. Why does a 12 inch reach matter?

Because it decides which frames the fitting can serve. Most picture bars stand four to six inches off the wall, which is enough for a slim frame and not enough for a deep one. At 25.5 to 30.7 cm this arm puts the bar well in front of a heavy mirror surround, a shadow box or a canvas on a thick stretcher, so the beam starts clear of the edge instead of grazing it.

Which length should I choose?

About half to two thirds of the width below. The 40 cm bar suits a small mirror or a powder room, the 60 cm bar a standard vanity mirror, the 80 cm bar a wide mirror or a double vanity. Power rises with length, 8W, 12W and 16W, so the long version is not a stretched version of the short one.

Is it solid brass?

That is a brass body under a bronze toned finish, not a bronze casting, and it is the reason the care note matters: polish removes the finish rather than cleaning it.

Can it go over a bathroom mirror?

On a dry wall above the mirror, yes, and the photography shows it in tiled bathrooms. The rating is IP20, which means no water protection, so keep it clear of the shower and of direct spray.

Is it dimmable?

As sold it holds one level. It runs from a common wall switch, and the order options offer a single warm light with no dimmable build. The LED is integrated, so a dimmer cannot be introduced by changing the lamp.

How do I clean it?

Switch off the supply first. Wipe the brass gently with a soft dry cloth, or a barely damp one, and dry at once. Keep abrasive pads, metal polish and strong solvents away from it. Do not force the joints while cleaning, since they hold the bar by friction.

Finish is doing more work here than shape. The bar itself is plain, a hooded channel with no ornament, and what places it is the antique bronze over cast brass: a dark warm metal with the brass showing through on the edges where it catches light. How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?
