The Stone Dome Sits Above the Orb, Which Is What a Mirror Actually Needs

Most vanity fittings point a bare bulb or an open shade at you, and the result is a hot spot in the eyeline and hard shadows under the chin. This one inverts the order. A dome of travertine caps the glass orb from above, so no light escapes upward and everything that leaves the fitting goes down and out, hits the wall and the basin surround, and arrives at a face as bounced fill. Put two on a 35 cm bar over a standard basin or three on a 53.5 cm bar over a wide vanity and that fill spreads across the whole width of the glass rather than pooling on one side. It is the difference between light you can shave or do your face in and light that just proves the fitting is on.

Why is this shape good over a mirror?

Because the stone dome sits above the orb rather than below it. Light leaves downward and outward, bounces off the wall and the basin, and reaches a face as fill rather than as a point source. A bar of two or three spreads that fill across the width of the glass instead of lighting one side.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

We rate it IP20 and indoor only, so treat it as a dry location fitting and keep it clear of a shower or bath zone.

One, two or three lights?

One on a round plate for a bedside, a narrow wall or beside a small mirror. Two on a 35 cm bar for a standard basin. Three on a 53.5 cm bar for a wide vanity or a double basin. Match the bar to the mirror rather than to the wall.

Does the single one have a switch?

Yes, a pull chain hangs at the fitting, and it also answers a common wall switch on the circuit, which is not included. That makes the single version usable beside a bed as well as beside a mirror.

Which lamps do I need?

One G9 lamp per light, not included. A warm 2700K to 3000K lamp keeps the travertine looking yellow and the skin tones natural. A cool lamp pushes the stone gray, which is not what you want over a mirror.

Will the stone match across a three light bar?

Closely, not exactly. The three domes are cut from travertine, which forms with voids and bands, so each one carries its own pitting. On a bar that reads as texture rather than as a mismatch, and it is the reason the piece does not look machine made.

One Light on a Round Plate or a Bar of Two or Three, From the Same Design

The single version is a different piece of furniture from the bar versions, even though the dome and the orb are identical. On its own round walnut plate at Dia 15 cm, with a pull chain hanging beneath it, it behaves as a bedside light: small, switchable by hand, happy on a narrow wall beside a headboard or a cane panel. Put two or three of the same heads on a walnut bar and the piece becomes architectural, a horizontal line 35 or 53.5 cm long that belongs over a mirror or a console. Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
