One Knuckle, Two Axes: Why a Small Travertine Tube Covers So Many Positions

The whole design turns on the metal joint between the travertine tube and the walnut base. The tube tilts on it, and the fitting itself rotates 180 degrees on the plate, so the beam can be aimed almost anywhere from a single fixing point. That matters on a bedside wall, where the useful angle for reading is not the useful angle for getting up in the night, and it matters in a hallway, where the same fitting can wash the wall or throw light along the floor. The cylinder is 10 cm across and 24 cm long, cut from yellow travertine, and the base is walnut. Nothing about the shape changes between a wall install and a ceiling install; the same piece does both.

How far does the head move?

The tube tilts on the metal knuckle that joins it to the base, and the whole fitting turns 180 degrees on the plate. That covers aiming down at a bedside, along a wall, or up at a ceiling from one mounting point.

Can it go on a ceiling?

Yes. The same fitting mounts on a ceiling as well as a wall, which is how the hallway photographs are set up. It is hardwired either way and wants an electrical box behind the plate.

What is the difference between the two versions?

Only the socket. One version takes an E27 lamp, which sits proud of the tube as a visible round bulb, and the other takes a small G9 that stays inside the cylinder for a cleaner line. Lamps are not included.

Is it bright enough to read by?

It gives a directed pool rather than room light, which suits reading in bed or lighting a picture. Brightness comes from the lamp you fit, so choose the output when you buy the bulb.

Will two tubes match?

Close, but not identical. Travertine is a sedimentary stone shot through with voids, so the pitting and the color banding differ from tube to tube. A pair reads as two related pieces, not two copies.

How do I clean the stone?

Dust it with a soft dry cloth. For marks use a barely damp microfiber cloth and dry the stone at once. Keep acidic cleaners away from travertine; they etch the surface.

Two Sockets on the Same Body, and the Lamp You Pick Changes What You See

The fitting comes two ways and the difference is only the lamp it takes. The E27 version carries a visible round bulb standing proud of the stone, which is the look in most of the bedroom photographs. The G9 version keeps a small lamp inside the cylinder, so what you see is the tube and nothing else. Lamps are not included in either case, which leaves the output and the color temperature to you. In North America an E26 bulb threads straight into an E27 socket, so a standard US lamp fits the larger version without an adapter.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
