The shell is the part that does the work. Yellow travertine is carved into a rounded capsule and hollowed just enough that each opal glass orb seats into it and pushes back out past the rim, so the two materials interlock instead of one simply holding the other. Lit, that join is where the piece comes alive: the orbs give an even diffused glow, and the thin carved lip of the stone catches the light at a grazing angle so the pitting and the banding in the travertine read as texture rather than as a pattern printed on it. From across a room you see a column of soft circles. From a step away you see the stone. Both sizes work the same way, with two orbs or with three.

Two orbs or three?

The two orb version is 27 cm tall and sits comfortably beside a bed or above a console. The three orb version is 40 cm and behaves as a wall piece, so it wants clear space above and below. Both are 14 cm wide, so neither one crowds a narrow wall.

How much light does it give?

Each orb takes its own G9 lamp, so the three orb version gives half again as much as the two. The glass is opal, which spreads the output rather than concentrating it, so the result is ambient light and a soft pool below rather than a reading beam.

Which lamps do I need?

G9 lamps, not included, one per orb. A warm 2700K to 3000K lamp keeps the stone looking yellow; a cool lamp pushes it toward gray. Because the glass is opal, an inexpensive LED works as well as a filament here.

Will the stone look like the photographs?

Close, not identical. Travertine forms with voids and bands of color, so the pitting and the tone shift from shell to shell. That variation is the material, and it is the reason the carved lip catches light the way it does.

Can I mount a pair?

Yes, and the photographs show a pair flanking a console and a pair either side of a bed. At 14 cm wide they read as a matched set rather than as two separate fittings, which is why pairs work better here than on a wider sconce.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamps cool. Wipe the glass orbs with a barely damp cloth. Dust the travertine dry, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, and keep acidic cleaners off the stone.

Twenty Seven Centimeters or Forty, Which Is Two Different Jobs on a Wall

Same width, same materials, and a difference in height that changes what the piece is for. At 27 cm with two orbs it behaves as a sconce: mount it beside a bed at reading height, above a console, or as a pair either side of a mirror, and it fills the role a shaded fitting would fill without the bulk. At 40 cm with three orbs the proportion tips and it becomes a vertical wall piece, which is why the photographs put it on empty plaster beside an armchair or on the flat run of a stair wall rather than over furniture. If the wall is short or the fitting has to share it with artwork, take the 27 cm. If the wall is bare and tall and needs one thing on it, take the 40 cm.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
