Textured Ceiling Light Where the Upper Volume Changes and the Dome Does Not

Every version of this fixture is the same idea: a wide dome underneath that does the lighting, a dark ring at the waist, and a smaller closed volume above it that does the looking. What changes between the three is only that upper volume, and it changes the piece completely. On the 40 cm version it is a rounded ball, and the fixture reads as compact and self-contained. On the first 50 cm version it is a flattened disc, which keeps the whole silhouette low and wide and makes it the quietest of the three. On the second 50 cm version it is a tall cylinder, and the fixture turns vertical and takes noticeably more presence in the room. The surface on all three is a fine grained high polymer worked to look like unglazed plaster: matte from across the room, tactile up close, and free of the shine that would give away a molded shade.

What is the difference between the three versions?

Only the upper volume. All three have the same wide textured dome underneath and the same dark ring at the waist. Above that ring the 40 cm version has a rounded ball, the first 50 cm version a flattened disc, and the second 50 cm version a tall cylinder, which makes it the most vertical and the most present of the three.

Does it light the ceiling as well?

The entire output leaves through the open dome underneath as a defined downward beam, because the upper volume is closed and nothing escapes upward. That suits a dining table or a kitchen island, where you want the surface bright and the room calm, and it means a living room needs a second source alongside it.

What is the surface made of?

A fine grained high polymer, worked to read like unglazed plaster: matte from across the room and tactile close up, without the shine that usually gives a molded shade away. It is also light for its size, which matters on a 60 cm tall volume hanging from a cord, and it does not chip at the rim the way a heavier shade would.

How high should it hang over a table?

The bottom of the dome usually sits around 75 to 85 cm above the table surface. The cord runs 150 cm and adjusts, so the height is set at installation. Remember that the fixture is tall as well as wide, between 42 and 60 cm depending on the version, so measure from the ceiling rather than from the shade.

Is the bulb included?

Yes, an E27 LED bulb comes with the fixture. Any ordinary E27 lamp fits as a replacement. Because the dome is open underneath and the top is closed, a frosted lamp is the better choice than a clear filament one: the source is visible from directly below and a clear lamp shows as a bright point in the middle of the beam.

How do I clean a grained surface?

Dry, with a soft cloth or a vacuum on its lowest suction with a brush head, worked gently over the grain and around the ring at the waist. Keep water away from the surface, since a damp cloth can leave a mark in a grained finish that stays visible. Switch the fixture off and let it cool before you start.

The upper volume is closed, and that is what makes this fixture behave the way it does. No light escapes upward, so nothing washes the ceiling and the whole output leaves through the open dome underneath as a defined downward beam. Over a dining table or a kitchen island that is exactly what you want: a bright working surface and a room that stays calm around it. In a living room used only with this fixture, it will feel directional, so plan a second source. One fixture covers 10 to 15 square meters. The cord runs 150 cm and adjusts, so the height is set at installation, and over a table the bottom of the dome usually sits around 75 to 85 cm above the surface. Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.
