Strands at Staggered Lengths, Because Nine Lamps in One Plane Would Read Flat

The nine rope strands do not finish at the same height and that is deliberate. Lamps hung level read as a grid, and a grid of nine bare filaments over a table is hard to look at. Staggered, they read as falling, which is the whole gesture of the piece and the reason it works in a tall room. It also spreads the glare: no two filaments sit side by side at eye level, so from a seated position some are above the sight line and some below. Fit the same lamp in all nine holders. The staggering carries the design, and nine different lamps would turn it into clutter.

Is the tire a real tire?

Yes, a reclaimed tire, and the tread is visible in the close photographs. It is wrapped and bound with hemp rope, and it hangs flat rather than on edge.

Will it smell of rubber?

A reclaimed tire can carry a faint rubber smell for the first week or two in a warm room, and it fades. Keep the lamps low in wattage and well clear of the rubber, which the rope spacing already does.

How many lamps and what type?

Nine, E26 or E27, not included. Every holder is exposed, so the lamp is part of what you look at. Edison style filament lamps suit the piece; a warm white LED filament gives the same look with less heat.

How much space does it need?

It drops 120 cm from the canopy, which asks for a ceiling of at least nine feet over a table. Over a dining table for four to six, or a kitchen island, set the lowest lamps clear of standing head height.

Is there wood in it?

It is rubber, hemp rope and metal. That mix is the whole character of the piece, and it is why it reads as industrial rather than rustic.

How do I clean it?

Wipe the rubber with a barely damp cloth. Brush the rope dry and never wet it. Let the lamps cool before handling any of the strands.

This is not a moulding cast to look like a tire. It is a tire, reclaimed and bound with rope, which means the piece arrives with the tread pattern, the sidewall lettering and the scuffing of whatever life it had before. No two are identical and none of them are clean in the factory sense. If that is what you want, it is the strongest thing about the fitting and no reproduction gets close. If you want a fixture that matches its photograph exactly, this is the wrong one, and the beam or the wheel in this range will serve you better.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
