Most chandeliers send their light down and leave the ceiling dark. This one uses it. The brass plate sitting above the lamps is cut into a star, so the light is stopped in the middle and thrown out between the points, and what lands overhead is a broad star that spreads well beyond the diameter of the piece itself. In a hall or above a bed, where people look up, that doubles what the fitting does for the room. It also means the ceiling surface matters: a flat pale finish holds the shape crisply, while texture or a dark color blurs it into a glow.

Does it really cast a star on the ceiling?

It does. The brass plate above the lamps is cut into a star, so the light is blocked in the middle and escapes between the points. On a flat pale ceiling the shape lands clearly; on a textured or dark ceiling it softens and reads more as a glow.

How tall is it?

31.9 inches from the top plate to the lowest bead, against 24 inches across. That is a vertical piece, which is why it suits a stairwell, an entry with height, or a bedroom where it hangs above the bed rather than over a table.

Are the bulbs included?

Six E14 candle sockets sit between the tiers and the lamps are left to you. Clear filament lamps sharpen the star on the ceiling because the source is more concentrated; frosted lamps soften it and give a gentler glow through the beads.

Can it be dimmed?

The fitting runs from a push switch with no dimmer built in. Dimmable E14 lamps on a compatible wall dimmer will dim it, and in a bedroom that control is worth fitting because the ceiling pattern reads most clearly at a low level.

Will the brass and the beads match my room?

The brass is warm rather than bright, and the beads are an old white that leans cream. Together they read warm, so they settle with wood floors and cream walls more easily than with cool gray or a stark white scheme.

How heavy is it?

About 26.4 lbs, which is enough to need a joist or a rated ceiling anchor rather than a plasterboard fixing. In a stairwell the drop is longer, so the fixing matters more and should be agreed with your electrician in advance.

The two tiers stack rather than spread, so this piece is considerably taller than it is wide. That rules out a low ceiling over a dining table and rules in the places where height is available and useful: a stairwell seen from the landing above as well as the hall below, a double height entry, or a bedroom where it can hang clear over the bed. In those positions the upper tier reads from one level and the lower from another, which is the whole reason the fitting is built in two stages instead of one.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.
