Each Cord Is Cut to a Different Length, Which Is What Turns a Cluster Into a Spiral
A stairwell is a tall empty volume with a staircase wrapped around one wall, and nothing fills it except a fitting built to fall through it. This one hangs from a single round plate and drops its cylinders on cords of different lengths, arranged so the tips follow the turn of the stairs rather than sitting in a flat ring. Eight sizes run from nine lights on a 15.7 inch plate down to eighty eight on a 39.4 inch plate, with drops from 78.7 to 197 inches, so the piece is chosen against the height you actually have.
