Nothing Stands Up at All, Which Is the Whole Argument for a Disc in the Lawn

Every other way of lighting a lawn puts an object in it. A bollard, a stake, a spike light, a bulkhead on a wall: all of them are visible by day and all of them interrupt the one thing a lawn is for, which is an uninterrupted plane of green. This disc sits an inch and a half proud, dark against the grass, and from ten feet away in daylight you have to look for it. At night the effect reverses. The fixture stays dark and the grass around it lights, so the lawn reads as a surface with glowing patches in it rather than a lawn with lamps standing on it.

Can a mower go over it?

The disc stands about an inch and a half above the ground, which is low enough to walk past and too high for a blade. Set them at the edges of a mown area or lift them before cutting the grass.

Where does the light go?

Sideways and down, out from under the rim. The ring of light lands on the grass within a couple of feet of the body, so the surface reads as lit while the fixture itself stays dark from a seat or a window.

Which build for a shaded lawn?

The wired one. Solar wants about six hours of direct sun a day for a full night, and a lawn under trees or on a north side will not give that in winter whatever the panel does.

How deep does the spike go?

Far enough that the disc lands level with the turf, which on the stated 12.2 inch overall height leaves most of the spike in the soil. Water the ground first if it is dry and hard.

Does the wired version need a trench?

It needs a cable to each position, so yes, a shallow run under the turf with a weatherproof connection at the fixture. Plan the layout before lifting the sod rather than after.

Can it sit in a wet lawn?

Yes, IP65 covers dust and water jets from any direction, including sprinklers and heavy rain. Do not immerse it, so keep it out of hollows where standing water covers the disc after a storm.

The Light Leaves From Under the Rim, So the Source Never Reaches Your Eye

Put an LED where people can see it and every seat in the garden has a bright spot in the view. The aperture here faces sideways and slightly down, tucked under the overhanging rim of the disc, which means the light travels out across the grass and nothing travels up toward a chair, a window or a terrace. What you read at night is a soft ring on the lawn, brightest close to the body and fading within a couple of feet. Set a group of them in an irregular scatter rather than a line and the effect is closer to stepping stones of light than to path lighting.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
