The Cone Aims Straight Down at the Base Shelf, and the Open Frame Does All the Rest

Nearly every garden lantern pushes light outward through a diffuser. This one refuses to. The cone hanging inside the frame is closed at the top and open at the bottom, and it is aimed squarely at the base shelf a few inches below it, so the first thing the light hits is the fixture's own floor. From there it bounces back up and out through the four open sides as a low, soft glow with no visible source anywhere in it. Walk past at eye height and you see a dark frame with a pale cone inside it and light gathered underneath. Nothing shines at you, and that is deliberate.

Where does the light actually go?

Downward, into the frame. The cone is aimed at the base shelf under it, so most of the output lands there and bounces back up through the open sides as a soft glow rather than leaving as a beam.

Why is the frame open on every side?

So there is nothing to look through and nothing to clean. With no glazing there is no panel to smear, no seal to fail and no reflection, and the cone stays the only thing you see.

What is the cone made of?

Polyethylene, molded rather than folded, which is what allows the curve to run in two directions at once. It glows softly at its own surface as well as throwing light down.

Which size for a low wall?

The 7.9 inch, which stands only 6.3 inches tall and reads as a marker rather than a fixture. The 15.7 inch is a plinth or pier size, where its 11.8 inch height has something to sit on.

Is there anything to install?

No cable and no wiring. The base shelf is drilled for a fixing if the position is exposed, and otherwise it simply stands where you put it, which is the whole advantage of a solar body.

How does it handle weather?

It carries an IP65 rating, which covers dust and jets of water from every side. Do not immerse it. Because the frame is open, rain passes straight through rather than collecting anywhere.

No Glazing Anywhere on the Body, Which Removes the One Part That Usually Fails First

Think about what goes wrong with a garden lantern over five seasons. The gasket behind the glass hardens and lets water in. The inside of the panel films over with condensation you cannot reach. The outside collects dust and hard water spots that dull the whole fixture. Every one of those problems belongs to the glazing, and this design simply does not have any. Four posts, a top plate, a base shelf and a molded cone, all of it open to the air. Rain falls through it. There is no cavity to mist up and no surface between you and the light. The only maintenance left is keeping the solar panel on top clean.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
