What does the switch on the fitting do?

It turns the lamp on and off at the shade itself, so the pendant works beside a bed without being wired to a wall switch. With a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer it also handles the level, which is useful at a bedside.

Why is so little of it glass?

The brass blocks the sideways output that would otherwise glare at you from across a room, and the glass tip passes a soft pool downward. It is the same thinking behind a reading lamp: light the surface, not the person next to it.

Is it bright enough to read by?

Hung about 24 inches above a nightstand it puts enough on a page for comfortable reading. It covers roughly 22 to 32 square feet, so treat it as task or accent light rather than as the main source in a room.

What bulb does it take?

An E26 or E27 screw bulb up to 40W, not supplied. A warm LED is the obvious fit beside a bed, and because the lamp is enclosed in metal a low wattage keeps the brass comfortable to touch.

Does the brass darken?

Brushed brass picks up a patina over the years, more quickly in a kitchen than in a bedroom. A dry cloth keeps it even, and polish will cut through the brushed texture, so it is the one thing to avoid.

Is it heavy for its size?

At about 8.8 pounds it is heavier than it looks, since the body is solid metal rather than plated steel. The ceiling fixing should go into a joist or a proper anchor even though the fitting is small.

Pendants are usually wired to a wall switch, which is fine in the middle of a ceiling and awkward above a nightstand where you want to reach up and turn it off. A push button on the body solves that with no electrician's work beyond the ceiling box, and with a dimmable bulb behind it the same button handles the level for reading.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
