Depth Is the One Specification That Decides Where This Fixture Can Really Go

Almost every exterior wall fixture is chosen on height and finish. The number that decides whether it works is usually depth. A lantern that stands eight or ten inches off the wall is an obstruction in a corridor, fouls a door that swings back, and cannot go in a reveal at all. This one projects 3.5 inches. That puts it inside the zone where nothing catches a shoulder, a door leaf clears it, and a narrow pier between two openings still takes it. The panel is large enough to carry real light, at 5.5 inches wide and 27.6 tall, so nothing has been sacrificed to get there except the depth nobody wanted.

How far does it stand off the wall?

Three and a half inches, which is less than most exterior fixtures and is the reason to choose it. In a corridor or a narrow reveal that difference decides whether the fitting is in the way or not.

Is the panel real alabaster?

It is an imitation alabaster resin, and we say so rather than upgrade it. Real alabaster is porous and does not survive a freeze and thaw cycle on an exterior wall; the resin does.

What is the bar across the middle for?

It covers the fixing point and the cable entry, and it breaks the panel into two halves so the face does not read as one long blank rectangle. It is a cover plate doing double duty as the only ornament.

Can it be used inside as well?

The IP65 rating simply means it also survives a wet exterior wall, which is more than an interior fixture in the same shape would do.

What does the installation need?

A hardwired supply on AC 110-240V terminated in a weatherproof box behind the back plate, and a flat surface for the plate to seal against. There is no switch on the fixture.

Will the panel discolor outdoors?

What is on the specification is the IP65 rating and the resin construction. Do not immerse it and wash it with water rather than solvent.

Veining Cast Right Through the Resin, Not Printed on Top of a Flat Sheet

There are two ways to make a panel look like stone. One is to print a pattern on the surface, which reads convincingly by day and vanishes the moment light passes through from behind, leaving a flat bright rectangle with a faint picture on it. The other is to cast the veining through the thickness of the material, which is what has been done here. Lit, the darker passages hold back a little light and the paler ones let it through, so the face has genuine variation rather than a printed image. It is the difference between a panel that looks like stone and a panel that behaves like it once the fixture is switched on.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
