A Scalloped Rim Softens the Edge of the Light, Which Is the Whole Reason to Choose One

Is 9.8 inches too small over a counter?

On its own over a narrow counter it is the right size, since a wider shade starts to crowd the wall cabinets. Over a longer run, two or three of them spaced about 24 inches apart read better than one large fitting and give you an even band of light instead of one bright middle.

Do the four colors look the same when lit?

The glass is opaque, so the color shows on the outside of the shade and the light that comes out underneath stays close to the color of the bulb. White and beige disappear into a pale ceiling, pink and blue stay visible as objects, and all four throw the same soft scalloped edge on the surface below.

How short can the cord go?

It arrives at 78.7 inches and is cut to the drop you want when it goes up, so a low ceiling is no obstacle. Over a table the usual landing point is 30 to 34 inches above the top, and in a corner most people stop it at around head height so the brass holder stays part of the picture.

Will it suit a bedroom?

It is a common choice beside a bed, hung in place of a table lamp so the nightstand stays clear. One on each side at the same drop balances the room, and because the shade is shallow it sits close to the wall without catching a shoulder when you get up.

Is the brass holder lacquered?

It is, so it keeps its tone rather than going dull over the first year. It is also left exposed on purpose, since the contrast between the warm metal and the glossy glass is most of what gives this shade its period look.

Can it take a decorative bulb?

A clear filament bulb is the one that suits it, and because the rim is open you see the bulb from below. If you would rather not, a frosted or opal bulb of the same screw size tucks the filament away and leaves only the scalloped edge to look at.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
