The arm on this sconce curves up from a small rectangular canopy and carries the shade 27 cm out from the wall. That measurement does most of the work. A shade held tight against the wall lights the wall; a shade held well out over a nightstand or the arm of a chair drops its light onto a book instead, which is why this shape keeps appearing beside beds and armchairs rather than in corridors. The shade itself is a cone turned from solid wood, 17 cm across, deep enough to keep the bulb out of sight from a seated position. The whole fitting stands 33 cm tall. How far does it reach over a nightstand?

The arm reaches 27 cm from the wall, so the shade hangs out over the surface rather than against the wall. That is the difference between a sconce you can read under and one that only lights the wall.

Is the arm adjustable?

The curve is fixed and the shade hangs at a set angle from it. If you need to aim the light, a tilting head or swivel arm sconce is the better choice.

What are the four finish choices?

The arm and the shade are finished separately, so you pick a pair: light wood or black on the arm, light wood or walnut on the cone. The wall canopy is brass on all four.

How is it switched?

A pull chain hangs at the fitting, which works beside a bed with no wall switch nearby. It is hardwired, so a switch on the circuit will also control it where one exists.

What bulb does it use?

A standard E26 or E27, LED or filament, not included. The cone is fairly deep, so the bulb is mostly hidden from a seated position and a clear filament lamp is comfortable enough in this shade.

Is there really a gold version?

Most sconces come in one finish. Here the metal arm and the wood shade are finished independently and sold as four pairings, which changes how the piece sits in a room. A light wood arm with a light wood cone reads as a single soft object and almost disappears against a pale wall. A black arm with a light wood cone draws a hard line out from the wall and makes the shade look like it is floating. A walnut cone on a light wood arm is the warmest of the four, and a walnut cone on a black arm is the strongest contrast. The brass canopy is common to all four.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
