The Lamp Sits in the Fold Between the Discs, Which Lights Both From Inside

If the two discs were flat and separate this would be a plate with a bulb under it. They are not. The pieces overlap at an angle, and the lamp is held in the fold where they meet, so light travels outward along the inside of each disc and leaves at the rim. From a chair you see two glowing edges rather than a bright point, and the rope in between holds a gradient from bright to dark. It is why the fitting keeps its shape when lit instead of flattening into a silhouette.

Is the bulb included?

Order an E27 lamp with it. The fitting ships without one. The lamp sits in the fold between the two discs and is partly visible from below, so a frosted lamp is the better choice here.

Which size over a table?

The 23.6 inch for a round table up to about 4 feet, the 31.5 inch for a larger round table or a wide room. Both are shallow, 7 and 9.4 inches, so neither hangs into the conversation across the table.

How big is it?

23.6 or 31.5 inches across, and shallow with it, 7 and 9.4 inches deep. That shape is the whole point: it covers a round table like a canopy without hanging into the conversation across it.

How fragile is the rope?

The coil is stitched, not glued, so it holds its shape well, but a hard knock will flatten a section and it does not spring back. Handle the shade by the frame at the center rather than by the rim during installation.

How do I clean it?

A soft dry brush, worked in the direction of the coil. Never wet hemp: it darkens unevenly, stretches and the stitching loses its tension. Once or twice a year is enough in a normal room.

Pale or dark rope?

Pale reads as an object against a dark wall and disappears into a light one, so it suits a bright room where the shape rather than the color should carry. The darker rope is warmer and keeps its presence in a pale room all day.

Coiled Rope Gives a Texture That Reads From Across a Room, Not Up Close

A fine weave has to be seen from a few feet to register. A coiled rope shade does the opposite: the spiral is wide enough to read as a pattern from the other side of a room, which is what makes a 31.5 inch disc look worked rather than plain. Up close it is fairly simple, a single rope going round. That is the right way round for a ceiling fitting, since almost nobody sees it from arm's length and everybody sees it from the doorway.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
