The Horns Tip Downward, Which Is Why a Clear Filament Lamp Can Work Here

On most open fittings a clear filament lamp is a gamble, because the coil ends up at eye level. These shades solve that by pointing. Each horn flares and tips down, so from a standing position the lamp is inside the shade and what you see is the gold inner face lit warm. That is why the bar and library photographs can use bare filaments without the room turning harsh. Two notes. From a seated position at a low table you will see more of the lamp, so a frosted lamp is still the safer call over a dining table. And keep every horn to the same lamp, since the gold reflector shows a color mismatch quickly.

What is a horn shade?

A cone that flares out and tips downward, like the mouth of an old gramophone horn. Here each one is pressed metal, painted black outside with a gold inner face, so the light reflects warm rather than white.

How big a room does the sixteen light need?

At 150 cm across it is a room filling fixture, for a long table, a double height entry or a restaurant floor. For a normal dining room, six or eight lights at 88 to 93 cm is the right scale.

Is there wood in it?

Hemp rope and iron. The rope crown at the top is the only natural material, and it is what gives the fitting its warmth against all that black.

Which lamps should I use?

E26 or E27, one per horn, not included. The horns tip down and largely hide the lamp from a standing position, so a clear filament is safe here. Warm white around 2700K suits the gold inner face.

Does the number of lights change the height?

All four sizes stand 60 cm tall. Only the diameter and the number of horns change, from 88 cm on the six light to 150 cm on the sixteen.

How do I clean the horns?

Let the lamps cool. Wipe the outside with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, since the finish is baked paint. Dust the gold inner face with a soft brush rather than a cloth.

Four Sizes at One Height, So Only the Diameter Changes on Your Ceiling

All four builds stand 60 cm tall. What changes is the spread: 88 cm on the six light, 93 on the eight, 110 on the twelve and 150 on the sixteen. That makes the decision unusually simple, because you are only measuring width. Take the width of the table or the counter, aim for a fitting between one half and two thirds of it, and leave at least 30 cm of clear wall on each side. The sixteen light at 150 cm is a room filling piece for a long table, a restaurant floor or a double height entry, and it will overwhelm an ordinary dining room whatever the ceiling height.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
