An Open Frame Means the Garden Shows Straight Through It, Lit or Unlit

A lantern with solid sides is an object you look at. This one is four uprights and a lid, so there is almost nothing to block the view. Set it on a table in the afternoon and you see the planting behind it through the frame; the lamp is present without taking a share of the space. After dark the relationship inverts. The column inside lights up, the steel around it stays dark, and what you read is a bright vertical line held inside a rectangle. Neither state competes with the garden. That is unusual for a portable light, which is normally designed to be the brightest thing on the table.

Which height should I take?

The 11.8 inch for a table, where it sits below the sight line of anyone seated. The 19.7 inch for the ground, a step or a wall top, where a short lamp disappears behind whatever is planted in front of it.

Does it need any wiring?

The cell is in the lid and the battery is in the body, so nothing is run to it. Leave it where the sun reaches during the day and it lights itself at dusk without any input from you.

Can I carry it while it is lit?

Yes. The handle folds flat over the lid and takes the whole weight, about 3 kilograms. That is the reason the frame is open: there is no shade to knock and no cable to trip over on the way.

Why is the frame open rather than glazed?

Because a glazed box becomes a bright object and this one is meant to light the table instead. With nothing between the source and the air, the output leaves sideways through the gaps and the steel reads as a dark outline around it.

Can I turn it down?

Yes, on the remote dimmer. At full output it is bright enough to read by at close range, which is more than most evenings want. A step or two down turns it into table light rather than task light.

Is it made to stay outside?

Yes. It is rated IP65, dust tight and protected against water jets from any direction, so rain and sprinklers are within what it takes. Do not immerse it and do not leave it standing in water.

A Flat Handle Over the Lid, Because a Lamp That Moves Has to Be Carried

The handle here is a flat bar folded over the top of the frame, and it matters more than it looks. It sits low, so the lamp still passes under a table edge or into a cupboard. It is wide enough to take with a full hand rather than two fingers, which is what you want carrying 3 kilograms across a dark lawn. And because it folds over the lid rather than standing above it, nothing casts a shadow down onto the lit column. The solar cell sits under it in the upper face, still in full view of the sky when the lamp is set down for the day.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
