A bowl shape usually costs headroom, because the depth has to grow with the width for the proportion to hold. This one keeps both sizes at 15 cm. The 35 cm version and the 45 cm version drop exactly the same distance from the plaster, so choosing the wider one is a decision about how much ceiling you want covered rather than about how low the fixture will hang. That is what puts it in corridors, entries and landings, the places where a deeper fixture starts to feel close overhead and where a flat panel would look like something from an office.

What are the two sizes?

13.8 in across with three bulbs and 17.7 in across with four, or 35 and 45 cm. Both stand 5.9 in or 15 cm deep. The depth does not change between them, so the larger version covers more ceiling without hanging any lower, which is useful in a corridor or under a low ceiling.

Why an octagon rather than a circle?

Because the bowl is built from flat glass panels held in a brass cage, and eight straight faces fit that construction where a circle would need curved glass. The result is a shape with corners, which catches light along each brass edge and reads as a made object rather than as a plain dome.

How bright is it?

That depends on the bulbs, since the fixture takes three or four standard E26 or E27 screw bulbs and ships with none. Frosted glass spreads whatever you fit, so the whole bowl lights evenly rather than showing bright spots. For a hallway a modest warm bulb in each socket is usually enough.

Is the glass clear?

No, the panels are frosted white. That hides the bulbs completely from below, which matters on a fixture only 15 cm deep where the sockets sit close to the glass. It also makes the bowl glow as one surface, with the brass cage drawing dark lines across it.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No, it cannot. The maker rates it IP20, damp rated and not waterproof, for indoor use only, so a bathroom or a shower room is outside what it is built for. Hallways, entries, bedrooms and landings are the dry rooms the proportions suit.

What is needed to install it?

A ceiling junction box, hardwiring, and a push switch on the wall that is not supplied. The fixture mounts tight to the plaster with no drop. A licensed electrician should make the connection with the power off at the breaker, following local electrical requirements.

A frosted bowl on its own is a soft shape with no detail, pleasant and forgettable. Running a brass cage over it changes what you see. The stepped collar at the ceiling, the eight uprights down the sides and the ribs that cross the underside all stay dark when the light is on, so the lit glass is divided into panels by a pattern of fine lines. Polished brass takes a highlight along each of those lines, which is what gives the fixture its depth from the floor. Switched off, the same cage is what makes a white fixture read against a white ceiling instead of vanishing into it.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
