What changes between the white and the black shade?

The amount of light that leaves the sides. White glows through the pleats and spreads a soft wash over the surface; black holds the output inside and drops it straight down in a tighter pool, which reads darker in the room but brighter on the page.

What are the two heights?

30 cm and 40 cm, both with the same 28 cm shade. The short one suits a nightstand or a shelf where the shade should stay below eye level; the tall one suits a sideboard, a console or a desk.

Why is only one short size listed?

Because three heights are built within two centimeters of each other, a difference inside the thickness of a book. Listing them separately would be a false choice, so one short size is sold. Write to us if you need the height to the millimeter.

Is there a stem under the shade?

No visible one. The pleated cone sits directly on the turned wood block, with no brass collar or harp showing, which is what makes the two parts read as a single silhouette rather than as a shade on a lamp.

Which bulb does it take?

A standard E26 or E27, LED or Edison, not supplied. In the black shade version a clear filament bulb will be visible under the hem from a low seat, so a frosted one is the safer choice.

How do I clean the pleats?

Work a soft brush or a lint roller down the folds rather than across them, since dust collects in the valleys. Wipe the wood base along the grain with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once.

White Shade or Black Shade: The Choice That Changes How the Room Reads

This is the decision that matters more than the wood finish. A white pleated shade glows through the fabric, so a large part of the output leaves through the sides and washes the surface and the wall in soft light; it is the ambient choice, and it makes a small lamp feel like it is lighting the corner. A black shade is close to opaque: almost nothing escapes sideways and nearly all of it drops out of the open bottom in a tight circle. In a room that reads darker overall, but on a book or a keyboard directly below it reads brighter, which is why the black version behaves like a reading lamp and the white one behaves like a mood lamp. How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
