A pleated shade is made, not molded. Each panel of fabric is gathered and stitched onto the frame by hand, and the pleats are what turn a flat cylinder into a scalloped petal silhouette. That construction has consequences worth knowing before you order. The pleat spacing will not be identical all the way round, and the shade will not be perfectly circular, because a hand-stitched pleat cannot be. The maker says so plainly. In exchange you get a shade whose surface changes as you move under it, catching light along each fold, which a smooth drum does not do. Cleaning follows the same logic: a soft brush or compressed air, never steam and never an iron.

Is a bulb included?

No. The fixture uses a standard E27 medium base socket and takes one bulb, which is not supplied. The fabric shade fully encloses the bulb, so the bulb shape is not visible from below, and the maker notes that a round or globe form fits the interior geometry cleanly.

Which size suits my room?

The maker gives a guide. Small at 40 cm suits a bedroom, home office or hallway up to around 120 sq ft. Medium at 50 cm suits a master bedroom or dining room of 120 to 200 sq ft. Large at 60 cm suits a living room or open dining area of 200 to 300 sq ft.

How do I clean the pleats?

Do not use steam or an iron directly on the fabric. A soft brush or compressed air removes dust without distorting the pleats, which is the method the maker gives. The pleats are hand-stitched, so anything that drags on the fabric will pull them out of line.

Will the pleats be perfectly even?

Not exactly, and that is expected. The pleated fabric panels are hand-stitched onto the frame, so minor variation in pleat spacing and in the roundness of the shade is normal for this construction method rather than a defect in the piece you receive.

Does it hang below the ceiling?

It sits close to the ceiling rather than hanging. The maker describes it as suitable for rooms with 8 to 9 ft ceilings, where a pendant drop would bring the shade down into the room. Total heights are 23, 29 and 34 cm depending on which of the three diameters is chosen.

What is the base made of?

Dark brown finished metal, for both the canopy at the ceiling and the finial at the bottom of the shade. The maker states there are no painted plastic components in the fixture, so the parts that carry the shade are metal throughout.

Light from the E27 bulb passes through the beige weave in every direction, so a large part of the output reaches the ceiling first and returns as soft reflected light. Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
