Eighty Centimeters of Carved Wood Relief That Happens to Hold a Light Too

Take the lamp out of the description and what is left is a wall panel: 80 cm of solid wood carved into concentric ripples, framed in slim black metal, with a polished brass drop set near the top. That is why the piece works in places a sconce usually fails. A tall narrow strip of wall beside a door, the flat run at a stair turn, the gap between two windows, all of them are awkward for a fitting that spreads sideways and easy for one that runs vertical. The light is the last move rather than the first: a single glass orb at the base, warm and low, throwing its glow up across the rings so the carving casts its own shadows. Unlit in daylight, it still reads as something chosen for the wall.

Questions about this product

Everything you need to know about this product.

How large is it on the wall?

L 18 x H 80 cm, so it runs about the height of a door panel and stays narrow. That proportion is the point: it fills a tall empty strip beside a door, at the turn of a stair or between two windows where a small round fitting would look lost.

How much light does it give?

Enough for atmosphere rather than for reading. One G9 lamp sits behind the glass orb at the base, so the output is a warm pool low on the panel plus the shadow lines it casts across the carving. Pair it with a lamp if the room has no other light.

Which finish should I choose?

The light wood shows the carved rings most clearly and suits a pale wall. The walnut reads warmer and holds its own against dark plaster. The black turns the panel into a silhouette and lets the brass drop and the lit orb do all the work.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired to the supply behind the plate and switched from a common wall switch, which is not included. There is no cord and no plug on this model.

Can I mount it horizontally?

The photographs show it vertical and the carving is drawn to read that way, with the rings running up from the orb. Nothing prevents a horizontal fixing, but ask us first so we can check the gear position on the run you order.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamp cool. Dust the carved face with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, since the rings hold dust in the grooves. Wipe the glass orb and the brass drop with a barely damp cloth and dry them at once.

Three Finishes That Change How Much of the Carved Relief You Actually See

The carving is the same on all three, but how loudly it speaks is not. On the light wood the rings are legible from across the room, each ridge catching the orb's glow on its upper edge, and the panel reads pale and graphic against plaster. The walnut turns the rings into warm banding that only resolves as you come closer, which suits a dark or a colored wall where a pale panel would jump. The black stains the grain down almost to a silhouette, so what you notice first is the brass drop and the lit orb and only then the texture behind them. All three sit in the same black frame and take the same G9 lamp, so the choice is about the wall you are putting it on rather than about the fitting.
