Sized for One Mirror, Which Is Why It Looks Right and a Longer Bar Does Not

Scale is the thing people get wrong above a mirror. A bar that overhangs the glass at both ends turns into a shelf of light with dark air beneath it, and the mirror starts to look small. At 14.2 inches this one is drawn to sit inside the width of an ordinary round or oval mirror, so the eye reads mirror first and fitting second. Measure the glass, then keep the bar shorter than it.

What size mirror does it suit?

The bar should sit inside the width of the mirror rather than reach past it, so the light lands on the glass and on the face in front of it instead of on the wall to either side.

How high above the mirror should it go?

Far enough that the bar is out of the sight line of whoever is standing at the mirror, usually a hand's width above the top edge. Too close and the fitting appears in the reflection. Too high and the light falls on the wall behind the person rather than on their face.

Can I dim it?

As supplied it holds one level. The order carries a single fixed warm output with no dimming build, so plan it as a fitting that is either on or off. Where dimming matters, the TRIAC builds elsewhere in this range are the correct order rather than a dimmer added to this driver.

Is there more than one finish?

Bronze only on this model, which is worth knowing before matching a room. It is a warm mid brown rather than a bright gold, so it sits well with timber, cane and warm painted walls and less well beside chrome or polished nickel tapware.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired, with a supply and a box behind the plate and a switch on the wall. If the wall above the mirror has no box in it, the rechargeable and plug in fittings in this range give the same look without opening the plaster.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Above a mirror on a dry wall, yes. The rating is IP20, which is no protection against water, so keep the bar clear of the shower and of direct spray. In a small room that steams, wipe the bar dry rather than leaving condensation to mark the bronze.

There are two ways to treat a wall fitting. One is to make it an object: cast detail, heavy brackets, a shape you notice at noon. The other is to make it vanish until it is needed. This bar takes the second route. It is under two inches tall, there is no visible lamp, no shade and no bracket beyond a small squared block, so on a pale wall in daylight it reads as a line and nothing more. Switched on it produces a warm even wash over a mirror, which is the only moment it asks for attention.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
