A Fitting This Shallow Keeps the People Across the Table Fully Visible

The usual complaint about a chandelier over a dining table is that you end up talking around it. A drum or a cluster takes a foot or more out of the space between two seated people, so either it hangs too high to light the table properly or it sits in the sight line. A body 2.3 inches deep removes that trade. You can hang it at 30 inches above the table, which is where the light does the most good, and still see everyone at the far side. It is a small dimension that decides how the room actually works at dinner, and it is worth more than any amount of detail on the fitting itself.

Which length for a six seat table?

The 47.2 inch. A general rule is to keep the fitting to about two thirds of the table length, which puts a six foot table on the 47.2 and a five foot table on the 39.3. Leave a clear foot of table at each end.

How high should it hang?

Between 30 and 36 inches above the tabletop. On a bar this shallow you can go to the lower end of that range without blocking the view, which is the main thing it is built to allow. The cable is set on site.

Is it bright enough on its own?

Over a table, yes. 3 300 lm on the short version and 4 400 on the long one is a working level for eating and reading. As the only light in a large open room it will not be enough and you will want a second source.

Can it be dimmed?

This model is not dimmable as built, on either length. Over a dining table that is worth planning for, so keep a lower second light in the room if you want the level to drop in the evening.

Can it go on a sloped ceiling?

This model is not rated for a sloped ceiling and the two cable suspension is designed for a flat one. If your ceiling is pitched, ask us and we will point you at a model built for it instead.

What are the bolts along the face?

They hold the stone in the copper channel. They are visible by design rather than hidden, which is what keeps the fitting from reading as a plain glowing strip. There are four of them on both lengths.

Light Leaves the Underside and Both Long Edges, Not Only Straight Down

A strip light with a flat diffuser throws everything at the floor and leaves the ceiling dark, which is why a room lit that way feels lower than it is. Here the stone wraps the channel on three sides, so light comes out underneath and along both long edges at once. The table gets the direct part and the walls get the spill, and the ceiling above the canopy stays a little brighter than it would otherwise be. That is what keeps a fitting this thin from reading as a hard line of light, and it is also why the alabaster matters here rather than a sheet of acrylic.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
