Panels of fabric are seamed over curved ribs that flare outward as they descend and then turn down again at the bottom, and the hem is cut into scallops that follow the seams, so the outline waves and the lamp draws its own silhouette against the wall. Is this lamp safe for a child's room?

It is an ordinary plug-in table lamp with a fabric shade and no small removable parts, so the usual rules apply: keep the cord out of reach, put it where it cannot be pulled off the surface, and use an LED bulb so the shade stays cool.

What is the difference between the two models?

The shade color. One is printed white, the other soft pink, on the same body and the same dimensions. Pick by the room rather than by the size, because nothing else changes between them.

How wide is it on a small surface?

Below the shade the lamp is deliberately thin: a slim brass stem rising out of a shallow walnut disc that sits flat on the surface. The disc is wider than the stem needs, and that is the point, because a 30 cm shade on a narrow stem wants its weight low and its footprint broad, especially on a small nightstand or a chest in a child's room where the lamp may be knocked. It also keeps the cord exit at table level rather than halfway up the lamp. The socket is a standard E26 or E27 with no bulb supplied.
