A Fluted Frosted Glass Bell Over a Turned Walnut Spindle and a Nickel Foot

The lamp is built for the surface it stands on. The nickel foot measures only about 14 cm across while the shade above it spans 30 cm, so the base takes almost none of a nightstand and the light still falls forward over a book. Between them runs a slender turned walnut spindle, waisted at the middle and widening again at the top into a small wood cup that carries the glass. The shade itself is a wide bell in frosted glass, fluted around the lower edge, and the frosting is what makes the lamp work beside a bed: the light scatters inside the glass before it leaves, so the source is never visible and the pool it throws has no hard edge. The whole lamp stands 48 cm tall, which puts the lower rim of the shade above the reading line for anyone sitting up.

Why frosted glass rather than clear?

Because frosted glass scatters the light inside the shade before it leaves. You never see the source through it, and the pool it throws has no hard edge, which is what makes the lamp usable at a bedside. A clear shade at this height would put a visible bright point at eye level for anyone lying down.

How much room does it take on a nightstand?

The shade is 30 cm across at its widest but the nickel foot is only about 14 cm, so the lamp takes very little of the surface. The shade overhangs the foot, which means you can push the base close to the wall and still have the light fall forward over a book.

Do I need to buy a bulb?

The LED is built in, so there is nothing to fit and nothing to replace. Three color temperatures are offered at order, 3000K warm, 4000K neutral and 6000K cool, and the choice cannot be switched afterward.

Where is the switch?

An Integrated LED With a Touch Switch on the Foot and No Bulb to Fit or Replace

There is no socket in this lamp. The LED is built into it, so nothing needs fitting when it arrives and nothing needs replacing later, and the color temperature is settled at order instead: 3000K for a warm yellow bedroom tone, 4000K for a neutral white, 6000K for a cool white. The switch is a touch point on the nickel foot rather than a toggle on the cord, which matters at a bedside because it can be found by hand in the dark without following a cable behind the furniture. The lamp runs on AC 110 to 240V from an ordinary outlet and a USB charging plug is supplied with it. How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items.
