Colored Glass and Shell Do Something a White Shade Cannot Do to a Wall at Night

A white shade gives you white light on a white wall. A mosaic shade breaks the light into patches of amber, green and red and throws them onto the plaster around it, so the wall becomes part of the fitting. That is the reason to take this rather than a plain dome. By day the shade reads as a small piece of colored craft on a chrome arm, with a turned walnut knob above it and a walnut grip on the plate to warm the metal. It suits a reading corner, a hallway or a bedside wall where the room already carries some age and a plain modern fitting would feel out of place.

What is the shade made of?

It depends on the shade you pick, because the four are not one material. Tell us which one you want from the photographs and we will send you its material in writing.

Which shade is Model A, B, C or D?

Tell us the shade you want from the photographs and we will send you the model code and an image of current stock, so you buy by the picture rather than by a letter.

How far does it stand from the wall?

12.5 inches on models A, B and C, and 13.4 inches on model D. Both are deep enough to clear a nightstand or the arm of a chair, so check the walking space before you fix the height.

Which bulb suits a colored shade?

One standard E26 bulb, not included. A clear filament style LED at 2700K puts more light through the colored sections than a frosted bulb, which is what makes the patches of color show on the wall.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired to a wall junction box and runs from a wall switch. There is no cord on this version, so the supply has to reach the spot before the fitting goes up.

Can it go in a bathroom?

It is rated IP20, with no protection against water. Shell and glazed ceramic also dislike steam over time, so keep it to a dry room and well away from a shower or a tub.

Four Different Shades Share One Arm, So the Character of the Light Is Yours to Choose

The arm, the walnut and the chrome stay the same across all four versions. What changes is the shade, and with it the whole mood of the corner. The colored mosaic throws warm patches onto the wall. The shell mosaic is paler and reads closer to mother of pearl. The cream shade with a floral pattern is the quietest of the four. The white ruffled ceramic is the one that disappears into a pale room.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
