A Square Wood Section, a Frosted Strip, and Light That Lands as a Band Not a Spot

The whole fitting is a bar of solid wood 4.5 cm square in section, with a frosted acrylic strip recessed along one face. That geometry decides the light. A spot throws a cone that falls off at the edges of a frame; a strip the length of the picture lays down an even band from one side to the other, which is why bars of this shape sit above artwork, mirrors and sideboards rather than in the middle of a wall. Three lengths cover most of what people hang: 60 cm, 80 cm and 120 cm, drawing about 12W, 16W and 24W. Two woods are offered on the same body, natural pine with an open pale grain and walnut with a darker close one. The LED is integrated at 3000K, so there is no lamp to match and no socket to fail, and it is triac dimmable on a normal wall dimmer.

How long a picture does it suit?

Match the bar to the frame rather than to the wall. A 60 cm bar sits well over a frame of roughly 70 to 100 cm, the 80 cm bar over a wider one, and the 120 cm bar over a large canvas or a full sideboard.

What is the difference between downlight and up and down?

Downlight sends all the light onto what sits below the bar. Up and down adds a second band that washes the wall above it, which lifts the whole wall rather than lighting only the picture.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes. The LED is triac dimmable, so a standard wall dimmer on the circuit will work. The fitting itself carries no switch, so the circuit needs one.

Will it fit over my junction box?

Check first. The bar is 4.5 cm wide, which is narrower than a standard North American junction box, so a box wider than the body will show at the edges and will need extra mounting hardware.

Can it go on the ceiling?

Yes, the same fitting mounts on a ceiling, with a reach of 39 cm from the box. It also mounts vertically on a wall, which is how it works beside a sideboard or a doorway.

Is the wood solid?

Yes, solid pine or walnut. Grain and tone vary from one bar to the next, and on a long 120 cm piece that variation is easy to see. It is a property of the material, not a fault.

Downlight or Up and Down, Wall or Ceiling, and the Junction Box Point to Check First

Two versions of the same bar do different jobs. The downlight version puts everything onto what hangs below it. The up and down version adds a band across the wall above the fitting, which turns a simple downlight into something closer to architectural lighting, and it costs a little more at each length. If your box is wider than the bar it will not be covered and additional mounting hardware is needed. Check what is behind the wall before you choose a length.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
