What does milk glass mean here?

Glass made opaque white all the way through rather than coated or frosted on one face. The lamp behind it never shows as a bright point, and the globe keeps its soft white look when the light is off, which is why it sits well against walnut.

It takes a G4 lamp, what does that change?

Only what you buy. A G4 is a small two pin capsule rather than a screw base, so an E26 or E27 bulb will not fit. Order warm 2700K G4 LED capsules, which are inexpensive and widely sold. None are included.

Can I read by it?

This is ambient and accent light: a soft glow on the wall and a warm pool below. Beside a bed it is the light you leave on, not the one you read by. Pair it with a reading fitting if the corner needs both.

Which shape should I pick?

The wide 20 x 26 cm pebble reads calmer and suits an open wall above a console or a dresser. The tall 12 x 30 cm one is narrow enough for the strip beside a door or a bed pushed near a corner, and it draws the eye up.

How shallow is it really?

4.5 cm on both sizes. That is shallow enough for a hallway where a shoulder passes close, and shallow enough that the piece reads as something hung on the wall rather than bolted to it.

Will two of them match?

In shape and in tone, yes. In grain, no. The plate is real wood shaped by hand, so the figure runs differently on every piece. Order a pair together if you want them as close as possible.

This fitting is not a reading light. A single G4 capsule behind milk glass gives a soft even glow with no hot spot and no directed beam, which is exactly right for some jobs and wrong for others. No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.
