Frosted glass is clear glass with a surface treatment, and if you look at it from the wrong angle the lamp inside still reads as a hot point. Milk glass is not that. The glass is opal through its whole thickness, so light enters the wall of the globe, scatters inside it, and leaves as an even field in every direction with no visible source anywhere on the surface. What is milk glass?

Opal white glass, made cloudy all the way through rather than frosted on the surface. It hides the lamp completely and gives an even soft light in every direction, which is why a globe like this is comfortable to sit next to.

How far does it stand off the wall?

Only 11 cm, on a piece 42 cm tall. It is a vertical fitting, so it suits a narrow wall between a door and a bed, or a paneled wall where a wide sconce would fight the moulding.

What bulb does it take?

An E26 or E27 lamp, not included. Because the globe is opal the lamp is invisible, so an inexpensive LED works as well as a filament here. Keep to the wattage marked on the fitting.

Are the beads wood or painted metal?

Solid dark walnut, turned and stacked below the brass plate. Being wood, the three beads carry different grain, and the tone shifts slightly between pieces.

Is there a switch on the fitting?

Plan on switching it at the wall. No chain shows in any photograph of this fitting, so wire it to a wall switch and the sconce stays clean under the globe.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.
