Reach Is the Rare Part Here, and It Is Worth More Than the Finish Choice

Most bars above a mirror are fixed at four to six inches off the wall and that is the end of it. This one folds out to 32 cm, about 12.6 inches, on a brass scissor arm. That number changes what the fitting can do. It can stand clear of a deep mirror frame instead of lighting its top edge. It can reach past a wall cabinet door. It can be pushed out over a dressing table so the light arrives in front of a face rather than behind it, then folded back flat when the room wants the wall quiet again. A bar with a fixed bracket has to be hung in exactly the right place. This one can be corrected afterwards.

Is the walnut real wood?

It is a walnut color applied to a metal tube, with a brass arm behind it. The materials are metal, brass and acrylic, and we say so plainly, because a finish that reads as timber in photographs is exactly the sort of thing people expect to arrive as timber.

How far does the arm reach?

Up to 32 cm, about 12.6 inches, fully extended. That is a genuine working reach: enough to clear a deep mirror frame, a cabinet door or a shelf, and enough to put light onto a face rather than onto the top of the glass. Folded back it sits close to the wall as an ordinary bar.

Does the arm stay where I put it?

It holds on knurled joints that are tightened by hand, so it stays in the position you set and can be moved later without tools.

Which width for my mirror?

The 21.7 inch bar suits a mirror up to about 32 inches wide and the 27.5 inch bar a mirror up to about 42 inches. Over anything wider, two shorter bars centered over each basin usually read better than one bar stretched across the whole run.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired, with the supply coming through the wall into the square block behind the arm, and a common push switch controlling it. That switch is not supplied. Plan the block position with the arm folded, since that is where the fixing lands.

Can it go in a bathroom?

The rating is IP20, so there is no protection against water. Keep it clear of the shower and of direct spray, and keep the joints dry so the finish does not mark.

Walnut Tone and Brass Read as Wood and Metal, and Only One of Those Is True

The tube is finished in a walnut color and the arm is brass, which together give the fitting its mid century look: warm wood against warm metal, the pairing that defines the period. The honest note is that only the brass is the material it appears to be. In a room that already has real walnut furniture the tone sits beside it convincingly. Just do not buy it expecting the grain of a wood bar, because there is none.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
