The Reason This Shape Exists Is That It Puts Light Where a Table Cannot

A table lamp needs a table, and a table needs floor space next to the seat. That is fine in a room built around a side table and a problem in a room that is not. This arm starts at a base you can push against a wall or behind a sofa and carries the shade three feet out over the seat, so the light arrives where you read without anything standing in the way of your legs. It is the same argument as a wall light over a bed, solved without drilling. The trade is footprint: the base is a 35 inch reach, so measure before you buy.

Does it need an electrician?

It ends in a plug and goes into any wall socket. There is no junction box, no wiring and no ceiling work. Unpack it, set the base down, screw in the shade and plug it in.

How far does the shade reach from the base?

The whole fitting is 35.4 inches wide and the base sits at one end of that, so the dome hangs roughly three feet out. That is enough to clear the arm of a sofa and put the light over a seat rather than behind it.

Will the base stay put?

It weighs about 22 lbs in total and nearly all of that is the marble disc, which is what balances the reach of the arm. On a rug or a hard floor it holds. Do not expect it to survive being pulled by the cord.

Can I dim it?

As supplied it holds one level. It ships with one 15W LED bulb and a floor switch, so it is on or off. A dimmable build is available on request, and a plug-in dimmer with a compatible bulb is the other route.

What bulb does it take?

An E27 screw base. One bulb is included, rated 15W and about 1500 lumens in warm 3000K. If you want a cooler light later you swap the bulb, which is the advantage of a socket over an integrated LED.

How much light is 1500 lumens?

Enough to read by in the chair under it, not enough to light a whole room on its own. Treat it as the lamp beside the sofa. If it is the only light in the room you will want a second source for the evening.

Glass Rather Than Metal, So the Shade Becomes Part of the Light Not a Lid

Most dome shades are spun metal. They throw everything down in a hard circle and go black above the rim, which is why a metal dome over a desk can feel like a spotlight in a dark room. This one is glass. The light comes down through the opening and also sits in the shade itself, so the object stays warm from across the room and the contrast between the pool of light and the rest of the space is smaller. In an office that matters, because the gap between a bright desk and a dim wall is what tires your eyes over an evening.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
