The Arm Crosses the Upright, Which Is Why the Stone Base Can Stay Small

Most lamps that reach out over a desk need a wide heavy foot, because the whole arm hangs on one side of the upright and the leverage has to go somewhere. Here the arm crosses the post near the top and carries a short tail on the other side, so part of the load is balanced before it ever reaches the base. That is why an eleven pound lamp can hold a shade two and a half feet out over a desk without a slab of stone on the floor. It also means the stone cylinder is small enough to sit under a desk or beside a chair leg instead of claiming the space in front of it.

How much light does it give?

Write to us and we will send you the wattage and the output in writing. What the shape does is easier to picture: a cone on an angled arm puts the light down onto a chair rather than across the room, so it works as a reading lamp first.

Does the arm move?

Plan on a fixed arm. The angle is set in the build, and treating a fixed joint as adjustable is how it gets damaged. If you need a lamp you can aim, tell us and we will point you at one.

At 55 inches, is it tall enough for reading?

It is lower than a standard floor lamp on purpose. The arm crosses above a desk or a chair arm and the small shade sends light down onto the surface, so it works as task light rather than as a light for the room.

Can the LED be changed?

It is integrated, with no socket, so the head is not a serviceable part. If you want a fitting you can rebulb in five years, pick one of the models in this range with an E27 socket instead.

Is the base really marble?

Marble, and the cylinder on the floor is where the stone is. Natural stone varies, so the pattern on the piece you receive will not match any photograph exactly.

Will it tip with the arm out that far?

The whole lamp is about 11 lbs and most of that is the stone cylinder, which is what counterweights the arm. It is stable standing still. Do not hang anything from the arm.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
