A Solid Marble Disc, a Tapered Walnut Stem and a Closed White Glass Dome

The lamp is three materials in the plainest possible order. At the bottom sits a solid marble disc, cut flat and low, and it is there for weight as much as for looks: the stem is narrow and the dome is 25 cm across, so the stone is what keeps a slim lamp planted on a surface. From the stone rises a tapered stem in a walnut tone, wide at the foot of the taper and narrowing upward, and on top sits a glossy white glass dome, closed and smooth. Because the dome is closed the bulb is hidden from every angle, and the light leaves evenly, down and out through the glass, which is what makes it comfortable at bedside or desk height. Total height is 38 cm.

Will the marble look like the photographs?

Marble is quarried, so the veining, the density of the figure and the exact tone of the disc you receive will differ from the one photographed. The form and the dimensions are identical; the stone pattern is specific to each piece.

What bulb does it take?

An E14 candle base, which is the smaller screw fitting rather than the standard E26 or E27. It accepts an LED or an Edison bulb and none is supplied. Check the base marking before you buy a replacement, because an E26 bulb will not fit.

What kind of light does the glass dome give?

Even and indirect. The dome is closed and glossy, so the bulb is hidden from every angle and the output spreads down and out through the glass instead of pointing anywhere. It suits a bedside table or a desk where a bare source would be in the eye line.

Why the marble base?

Weight and balance. The lamp is slim, the stem is narrow and the dome is 25 cm across, so the stone disc keeps the whole thing planted on a surface. It also sets the material contrast the design runs on: cool veined stone, warm wood, white glass.

Is it dimmable?

The lamp ships with an inline on and off switch only. Pairing a dimmable E14 LED with an external plug-in dimmer is the way to add dimming; do not use a non dimmable bulb on a dimmer, as it can flicker or buzz.

How do I clean it?

A soft dry or barely damp cloth on the glass dome, which shows fingerprints readily and clears in one pass. Wipe the marble with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away, keeping acidic cleaners off it, and wipe the wood stem along the grain.

An E14 Candle Socket Rather Than a Standard Base, and an Inline Cord Switch

It accepts either an LED or an Edison bulb and none is supplied, so the color temperature and the brightness are chosen rather than fixed, but an E26 bulb will not thread into it. A warm LED between 2700K and 3000K suits the white glass and the walnut; a cooler bulb makes the dome read clinical. The control is a simple inline on and off switch on the 150 cm cord, and the lamp needs nothing installed beyond plugging it in. To add dimming later, use a dimmable E14 LED with an external plug-in dimmer, and avoid putting a non dimmable bulb on a dimmer, which can flicker or buzz. For care, the glass takes a soft cloth, the marble a barely damp one dried straight away and no acidic cleaners.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
