Almost every other fitting in this range aims light down. This one stands its lamps up off the rim, which changes what it does to a room. The light hits the ceiling first and comes back diffused, so you get a wide, soft wash instead of a bright pool, and nobody sitting under it is looking into a filament. That makes it a good choice over a low seating group or in a room with a pale ceiling to bounce off. The trade is direct light: over a dining table or a work surface it will feel gentle rather than useful, so keep something else for close work.

Why do the lamps face upward?

So the light bounces off the ceiling instead of falling straight down. It gives a softer, wider wash than a downward fitting and it keeps the filaments out of the direct sight line of anyone seated beneath.

What is the two tier build?

Two rope bound rings stacked on the same rods, six lamps on the upper and eight on the lower, fourteen in all. It is the same 80 cm width and 70 cm height as the single tier eight light, with more density.

Which lamps should I fit?

E26 or E27, one per holder, not included. Edison style filament lamps are the match, since the holders are open and the lamp stands proud. Warm white around 2700K keeps the rope honey rather than gray.

Will it light a room on its own?

In a small room, yes, because the upward throw fills the ceiling. In a large one it reads as ambient light and wants help from downlights or lamps for reading and close work.

Is there wood in it?

It is hemp rope and iron. The warm tone in the photographs comes from the rope itself, which pairs comfortably with wood and brick without pretending to be either.

How do I clean it?

Let the lamps cool. Brush the rope dry with a soft brush and never wet it. Wipe the rods and the canopy with a dry cloth, and dust the open sockets carefully.

Two Tiers in the Same Footprint, Which Buys Density Instead of More Width

The eight light single tier and the fourteen light double tier are both 80 cm across and both 70 cm tall. The second ring adds six more lamps inside the same space on the ceiling. That is a useful option in a tall room, where a single ring of filaments can look thin against the volume, and in a restaurant or a long room where you want the fitting to read from a distance. In an ordinary eight or nine foot room the single tier is usually the better call: fourteen bare filaments in one plane is a lot of brightness to place over a table.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?
