Is 7.9 inches long enough for a picture?

For a small one, yes. Up to about 20 inches wide it lights the piece evenly. Above that it becomes an accent that marks the top of the frame rather than a wash across it, which can be exactly what a dark corner needs but is not the same as lighting the whole work.

Which lamp does it take?

A single G9 lamp, not included. A warm LED G9 at about 3W gives a soft steady light and stays cool. A filament style G9 gives visible sparkle through the open ends of the tube. Neither dims unless the lamp is dimmable and the switch is a dimmer rated for LED loads.

Can I mount a pair on one wall?

That is the arrangement this size suits most. Two short tubes either side of a mirror or a chimney breast give balanced light and read as deliberate, where one small fitting on a wide wall can look stranded. Plan both boxes at the same time, because the second chase costs more than the second light.

Does it tilt?

There is a pivot between the plate and the tube, so the shade rocks a little up or down. It is a small adjustment rather than a wide sweep, enough to correct the angle over a frame and not enough to turn a picture light into a reading light.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired, with a box behind the square plate and the switch on the wall. On a wall with no supply, the rechargeable fittings in this range are the alternative that needs no chase and no plaster repair.

Can it go in a bathroom?

On a dry wall, yes. The rating is IP20, which is no protection against water, so keep it away from the shower and from direct spray. Let the lamp cool before cleaning, because a G9 in a closed tube runs warmer than an LED bar does.

An Open Ended Tube and a Bare G9 Give You a Choice the Sealed Bars Do Not

Because the tube is open at both ends and takes a single G9 lamp, what you see is partly decided after delivery. A frosted warm LED lamp keeps the fitting quiet: soft light, nothing visible, the tube reading as brass. A filament style G9 puts two small bright points at the open ends and turns the same fitting into something more decorative, closer to a hotel corridor than a gallery wall. Swapping between them costs the price of one lamp, and it is worth trying both before deciding which room this belongs in.

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.
