Linen Shade Table Lamp on Stacked Wood Rings
The base is a stack: six turned rings of stained oak set one on the next into a short fat column, each ring with a rounded outer edge so the profile runs as a line of ridges and grooves from the surface up to the collar. It is a shape you feel before you read it, and it is the reason the lamp holds a room without being tall. Above it sits a wide empire shade in natural linen, straight sided and open at the top, which throws light down over the surface and up against the wall at the same time. Brass appears twice, at the collar between wood and shade and at the finial on top, and those two points are the only bright metal on the piece. At 35 cm across and 45 cm tall it is built for a side table, a coffee table or a console rather than a narrow nightstand. The socket is a standard E26 or E27 and no bulb is supplied.
