At One Centimeter Across the Fitting Stops Being an Object on the Wall

There is a point where a light stops reading as a thing and starts reading as a line, and this rod is past it. One centimeter in diameter, 4.5 cm off the plaster, no shade, no housing and no visible lamp. In daylight it is a pencil line above the mirror. At night it is a band of light with a shadow gap behind it, and the eye reads the wash rather than the fitting. That is the whole argument for it, and it is also the reason to be honest about the cost: the driver has to live somewhere else, and that somewhere has to be decided before the wall closes.

What is an external driver and why does it matter?

The driver is the electronics that feed the LED. On most fittings it hides inside the body, but a rod this thin has no room for one, so it sits outside the fitting. Somebody has to find a place for it, usually in the wall void or above a ceiling, and that decision belongs in the conversation with the electrician before the wall is closed.

How thin is it really?

One centimeter across, which is under half an inch, sitting 4.5 cm off the wall. At that scale the fitting disappears in daylight and reads at night as a line of light with a shadow behind it. It is the opposite of a vanity bar that announces itself, and it suits a wall you want to keep plain.

Which length should I take?

Longer than you would think, because a thin rod needs length to register. Over a double basin the 39.4 or 47.2 inch versions hold the wall. Over a single mirror or a desk the 23.6 or 31.5 inch versions are enough. Output rises with length, so a long rod is not a dim one.

Can it be dimmed?

It comes as a warm dimming build with an external driver, and it needs a TRIAC dimmer, also sold as a leading edge dimmer, to control it. A plain rotary dimmer will not drive it. Without a dimmer it runs from an ordinary push switch at full output.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes, and more than most. It is hardwired, the driver sits outside the fitting, and the dimmer type is specific. None of that is difficult for an electrician, but all of it is easier before the wall is finished than afterwards.

Can it go in a bathroom?

Above the mirror on a dry wall, yes, and over a double basin it works well. The rating is IP20, which is no protection against water, so keep it clear of the shower and of direct spray.

Four Lengths Cover a Desk at One End and a Whole Bedroom Wall at the Other

The range runs from 60 cm to 120 cm and the two ends do different jobs. At 23.6 inches the rod is an accent over a desk, a shelf or a single mirror, at about 12W. At 47.2 inches and 24W it is a wall light in its own right, wide enough to sit above a bed as a headboard wash or across a double vanity without leaving either end dark. Because output tracks length, the long versions are not stretched thin. Pick by what is underneath rather than by the room: the rod should read as related to the furniture below it, not centered on a wall it has nothing to do with.

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
