A Low Center of Gravity, Because This Lantern Lives Down on the Ground

Most portable lanterns are cylinders or boxes with straight sides, and on gravel or uneven paving they are easy to catch with a foot. Tapering the body changes the physics. The widest part is the base, the mass sits at the bottom, and it takes a real push rather than a brush past to unsettle it. That is what lets this one work where it is actually photographed: at the edge of a deck, beside a gravel path, on a stone step. The same taper sends a share of the light down onto the surface immediately around the base, so the lantern marks its own position as well as lighting past it.

Why is the body tapered?

Two reasons, both practical. The weight sits low, so the lantern is harder to knock over on a deck or a gravel path. And the sloped faces angle part of the output downward, which puts light on the ground closer to the base.

Can it be hardwired?

Yes. The solar version also supports a hard wired connection at AC 110-240V and can run alongside the solar storage. Tell us if a fixed supply is what you need and we will set it up that way.

Is a light source included?

Yes. A set of ordinary warm light sources comes with it by default, which is what makes it straightforward to put in place. There is nothing to choose or match.

How tall is the handle?

It arches well above the body, which is deliberate on a lantern this shape. A short handle on a wide base is awkward to lift; this one gives a full hand of clearance over the top face where the cell sits.

Where does it belong?

On the ground, next to a path, a deck edge, a gate or a step. At 19.7 inches tall it reads from a standing height without being a table lamp, and the taper makes it stable on gravel and uneven paving.

Is it built for weather?

Yes. The IP65 rating covers dust ingress and water jets arriving from any direction. Do not immerse it. Keep the top face clear so the cell can see the sky through the day.

Four Pale Faces in a Black Frame, So the Lantern Draws Its Own Outline

The frame here is doing more than holding the acrylic in place. Black lines run down every corner and around the top and bottom edges, and at night, when the four faces light up evenly, those lines stay dark. What you read from a distance is a lit shape with its edges drawn, rather than a glowing lump. By day the same frame gives the lantern a graphic outline against planting or a timber screen, which is the state it spends most of its time in. It is a small amount of metal doing a large share of the design work.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on every order, with no minimum purchase. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay for delivery.

How long before my order ships?

Returns and Refunds

How do I return an item?

You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return on eligible items. To start, email us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and the reason for the return, and we will send you the return address and instructions. Items must be unused and in their original packaging.

Do I have to pay for return shipping?

No. On approved returns, we provide a prepaid return shipping label at no cost to you. Please note that a return should never be sent to the manufacturer's address; only to the address our team provides.

I received a damaged or defective item. What should I do?

We are sorry to hear that. If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, please refuse delivery if you can, then contact us at support@orodwell.com with your order number and a photo of the item. We will prioritise your request and arrange a replacement or refund in line with our Refund Policy.

Can I change my mind after ordering?

Yes. If you change your mind within 24 hours of placing your order, before it has been processed, we will refund you right away. After an order has shipped, please follow the standard return process described above.
