Fabric, stretched over a frame and pleated into deep vertical ribs. From a few steps away it reads like a paper lantern; up close the weave is clearly visible, and it does not tear or crease the way paper does.

What is holding it up?

A small wood cross foot under the lantern, and nothing else. There is no stem and no visible collar, which is why the shade looks like it is resting on the surface rather than being held above it.

Which of the two sizes should I choose?

The round 30 by 30 cm version suits a nightstand, a shelf or a stack of books, where a low soft glow is the point. The tall 27 by 50 cm version behaves more like a normal table lamp on a side table or a console.
