A Carved Arm That Cradles the Globe in Its Crook
A length of solid wood, carved so it swells and tapers like a piece of driftwood, rises diagonally off the wall and holds an opal glass globe in the crook where the form bends. Nothing is straight and nothing is symmetrical, which is the whole argument: the arm looks found rather than designed, and the globe looks rested rather than fixed. That balance between a natural form and one clean geometric element is the japandi move, Scandinavian restraint carrying a Japanese respect for the material. Two sizes, L 41 x H 38 cm and L 60 x H 62 cm, and three finishes. G9 lamp, not included.
